Simon Akit

Simon Akit is a seasoned capital markets executive with more than 18 years of experience across Canadian and U.S. institutional equities, complemented by five years of hands-on resource industry experience. From 2022 through late 2025, he served with Echelon Capital Markets, continuing to advise and support growth-oriented companies across the energy and natural resources sectors.

Prior to this role, Simon spent over 12 years at Canaccord Genuity, where he was a Managing Director and held several senior leadership positions, including Global Head of Energy Sales. His institutional equities background also includes roles at BMO Capital Markets in New York, Raymond James, and UBS, where he developed deep relationships across institutional investor networks. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of both a public company and a private company.

Earlier in his career, Simon worked for five years as a petroleum engineer with EnCana Corporation (now Ovintiv Inc.), holding technical roles including Drilling and Completions Engineer and Drilling Foreman across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and is a Professional Engineer (APEGA) in Alberta.
